BETTER SCHOOLS FOR OUR CHILDREN
Working with Premier Chris Minns we’re building more classrooms, hiring more teachers and lifting student outcomes across the South Coast to give our kids the world class education they deserve, right where they live.
BETTER SCHOOLS ACROSS THE SOUTH COAST
When I got elected, upgrading our schools was one of my commitments to the community.
Now we’re upgrading Milton, Ulladulla and Nowra East Public Schools and Vincentia and Ulladulla High Schools to address overcrowding and improve ageing facilities and we are building a new primary school at Worrigee.
New fee-free public preschools are being built at Greenwell Point, Sanctuary Point and at the new Worrigee Public School.
MORE TEACHERS FOR OUR CHILDREN
Because of the former Liberal National Government’s unfair wages cap and neglect of public education, teacher vacancies reached an all time high, resulting in 10,000 merged and cancelled classes across NSW every day.
When the Minns Labor Government was elected one of our priorities was to rebuild our education system. Just in the three years we’ve:
-
Delivered the largest pay rise in a generation to all of NSW’s public school teachers;
-
Provided permanent jobs to 313 teachers and support staff locally; and
-
Nearly halved the number of merged and cancelled classes by getting more teachers into the classroom, meaning our kids are spending more time learning in class and receiving more one-on-one attention from their teachers.
Rebuilding our education system takes time but we are committed to getting the job done.
